헌재, 4일 윤석열 탄핵심판 선고 Hello and welcome to Press Perspective for this Tuesday April First here in Seoul. I'm Min Sunhee. The Constitutional Court will announce its verdict on President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment this week. For more on this latest development and a NUMBER of other events I have Kelly Kasulis Cho with The Washington Post. Kelly welcome back. I also have Steven Borowiec with Nikkei Asia with us. Steven it's good to have you here. 1) Kelly, the court has finally shared a date for the announcement of its verdict on President Yoon's impeachment. What has been the response from the foreign media? 2) Kelly, while we await the court's ruling on the president's fate, there were a number of key rulings for other figures including acting President Han Duck-soo and opposition leader Lee Jae-myung. We covered the dismissal of Mr. Han's impeachment from his post as acting president last week. What can you tell us about opposition leader Lee Jae-myung? 3) Steven, uncertainty over the Constitutional Court's verdict on the president's fate appears to be fueling greater public divide over politics. What have you been witnessing? 4) Kelly, despite the political turmoil, efforts to keep the economy on track continue. Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun played host to his Japanese and Chinese counterparts here in Seoul this past weekend. Do tell us more about the trilateral talks and their importance amid the threat of U.S. tariffs. 5) Steven, the New York Times has highlighted China's efforts to engage with allies of America who feel "uneasy" about Trump's tariffs. Do tell us more about this coverage, and do you agree with the thoughts shared? 6-1) Kelly, also on the diplomatic front. U.S. defense chief Pete Hegseth is currently on his first Asia tour, and South Korea is not on his list. Should South Korea be worried? 6-2) Kelly, also during this current trip, Hegseth has sought to defend his disclosure of U.S. attack plans in a group chat. What's the latest on that front, and do you suppose this mishap will affect the exchange of intelligence between the U.S. and its allies? 7) Steven, back on the national front. Korea's worst wildfires in history made much headlines in recent days, and we covered them last Friday. The flames have since been tamed. How are the recovery efforts proceeding? 8) Kelly, are there lessons that can be learnt from the experiences of other countries that have battled and recovered from such devastating fires? All right.
