김정은, 자폭무인기 타격 참관 Hope your workweek is off to a good start. It's Monday March 31st here in Seoul and you're watching Press Perspective. North Korea has been making quite a bit of headlines in recent days with news of advances in military technology and a potentially prominent seat at the table for peace talks to end Russian aggression against Ukraine. For more I have Cheon Soram with Radio Free Asia. Soram it's good to have you. I also have Professor Lim Eun-jung at Kongju National University joining this session virtually. Professor Lim welcome back. 1) SORAM, let's begin with recent media coverage about a number of significant military upgrades by North Korea. Do tell us about its AI suicide drones and its airborne radar. 2) Professor Lim, why do such military advances matter? 3) Soram, North Korea, during the first two months of this year, reportedly deployed three-thousand more troops in support of Russia's war in Ukraine. What is the latest on this front? 4) And Soram, in yet another disturbing development, Russia's Vladimir Putin last week spoke of cooperating with North Korea to end its war in Ukraine. First do share with us the context behind this comment, and what are your takeaways? 5) Professor Lim, ending Russian aggression against Ukraine is a global priority, and Putin appears to be giving North Korea a prominent seat at the dialogue table. Why, do you believe, is he doing so? 6) And Professor Lim, against this backdrop, the Trump administration continues to call Pyongyang "a nuclear power". Do you suppose this is a form of flattery intended to coax North Korea back to conversation? 7) Meanwhile, Soram, also last week, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard raised fresh concern about North Korea's nuclear capabilities. What exactly did she say? 8) Professor Lim, how do these latest events look to affect denuclearization efforts? I mean, should we be looking at a nuclear arms production freeze instead of a complete nuclear weapons abandonment by North Korea? 9) Soram, beyond military collusion, Russia and North Korea may soon witness a tangible boost in economic exchanges as the two countries work to build a cross-border bridge. What more do we know? 10) Professor Lim, South Korea believes North Korea has thus far been reliant on Russia for strategic support and may, this year, seek China for economic stability. What is your outlook? All right.
