Russian Army Targeted Key Airfield In Recent Wave Of Strikes On Ukrain…
The Russian military had attacked a military airfield in Ukraine’s Ivano-Frankovsk region, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on August 12.
“On August 11, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation conducted a precision-strike multiple attack with heavy air-based weapons on a military airfield in the area of the settlement of Kolomyia of the Ivano-Frankovsk region. The target of the attack was reached. All targeted facilities were hit,” the ministry’s spokesman, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, said during his daily briefing.
Lt. Gen. Konashenkov also provided details on the recent offensive and defensive operations of the Russian military across the frontline.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Zapad Group of Forces made new gains on the ground, improving the situation there.
The group also repelled eight counter attacks by Ukraine’s 95th airborne assault, 14th and 32nd mechanized brigades close to Novosyolovskoye, Pershotravnyovoye, Sinkovka and Mankovka.
Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 70 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles and a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer, according to Lt. Gen. Konashenkov.
Meanwhile in the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled seven attacks by Kiev forces close to Kleshcheevka, Yakovlevka, Vodyanoye, Krasnogorovka and Nevelskoye. The group also destroyed an ammunition depot of Ukraine’s 59th Mechanized Brigade near Pervomaiskoye.
The spokesman said that 110 Ukrainian troops, two tanks, two armored fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles and two D-30 towed howitzers were neutralized in this direction.
In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces repelled two Ukrainian attacks near Urozhainoye. Kiev forces lost 130 troops, a tank, three armored fighting vehicles and an American-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar during the fighting.
And in the Zaporozhye direction, three more attacks by the 46th Airmobile Brigade of Kiev forces were repelled close to Rabotino. Lt. Gen. Konashenkov said that 40 Ukrainian troops, five tanks, two armored fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles and a Msta-B towed howitzer were neutralized there.
In the Krasny Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled three attacks by Ukraine’s 63rd and 66th mechanized brigades near Sergeevka and in the Serebryansky forest. Kiev forces lost 90 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, two pickup trucks and a D-20 towed howitzer in this direction.
Meanwhile in the Kherson direction, Russian strikes neutralized 35 Ukrainian troops, two motor vehicles, a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer and an American-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar.
Lt. Gen. Konashenkov also provided the following details during his briefing:
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralized manpower and military hardware in 126 areas.
In addition, 1 forward command post of the 10th Army Corps of the AFU has been hit near Orekhov (Zaporozhye region).
Depots of the AFU rocket and artillery weapons and logistics have been destroyed in the districts of Zaporozhye and Malaya Tokmachka (Zaporozhye region).
In addition, 29 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been shot down close to Ploshchanka (Lugansk People’s Republic), Belogorovka, Pokrovskoye (Donetsk People’s Republic), Ulyanovka, Ocherevatoye (Zaporozhye region), Pokrovskoye (Kherson region), as well as over the waters of the Black Sea.
In total, 458 airplanes, 245 helicopters, 5,683 unmanned aerial vehicles, 429 air defense missile systems, 11,249 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,144 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 5,853 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,189 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In a later statement, the Russian MoD said that Ukraine attempted to attack the Crimean Bridge with an S-200 missile that was converted into a strike version, but the Russian air defenses shot it down in midair.
“On August 12 at about 3:00 p.m. Moscow time, the Kiev regime made another attempt to carry out a terrorist strike on the Crimean bridge, using an S-200 surface-to-air missile converted into a strike version. Russian air defense systems spotted the Ukrainian missile and shot it down in midair,” the ministry said, adding that there was no damage or casualties.
In addition, Russian news sources shared videos showing Russian artillery strikes as well as some of Kiev losses recent losses, including British-German-Italian-made FH70 and American-made M777 towed howitzers and an American-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar which were destroyed with Lancet loitering munitions.
With week ten of the Ukraine’s counteroffensive nearing its end, Kiev forces are still bogged down kilometers away from the Russian military’s first defensive lines. The recent Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory were an attempt to deflect attention from the failure of the counteroffensive.
