Military Situation In Syria On August 5, 2023 (Map Update)

On August 5, the Russian Ministry of Defense recorded no cases of hostilities and ceasefire violations in Idlib region in the past 24 hours;
On August 5, Russian warplanes struck positions of Turkish-backed militants near Idlib;
Five Kurdish militants were killed in northern Syria, according to the Turkish Ministry of Defense;
On August 4, unknown assailants targeted an SAA checkpoint in Abukamal. An SAA serviceman was killed;
ISIS confirmed the death of its leader, Abu Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurashi, and named Abu Hafs al-Hashimi al-Qurashi a new leader. ISIS said its leader had been killed in “direct clashes” with the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group in Idlib province.
