After failed large-scale attacks on the positions of the Russian military on the southern front lines, the intensity of Ukrainian offensive operations has decreased in recent days. The Ukrainian military continues attempts to break through the Russian defense in near the village of Rabodino in the Zaporozhye region and in the area of the Berkhovsky reservoir to the west of Bakhmut. Meanwhile, the other front lines are inflamed by positional battles.
On the morning of August 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched another attack on Russian positions north of the village of Rabotino located to the south of Orekhov in the Zaporozhie region. The assault group reportedly included several armored vehicles and several tanks. When approaching the forest belt, the group was hit by Russian artillery. After an armored vehicle was destroyed, the other vehicles returned to their original positions.
The activity of Ukrainian forces in the area of Orekhov remains low. The AFU continue attempts to break through along the Rabotino — Verbovoye line with small assault groups. So far, without any success. The Russian military is holding control of the village of Rabotino, while the AFU attempt to enter the ruines settlement from the northern and eastern outskirts.

Last night, a reconnaissance group of the AFU was spotted in the area of Pyatikhatki located to the east of the town of Vasilyevka. As a result of the shooting battle, the Ukrainian group was destroyed. According to preliminary reports, 4 Ukrainian servicemen were heavily wounded and several others were killed. The others fled back to the Ukrainian positions.
In general, the Ukrainian military suspended any large-scale offensive operations in the area. The villages of Pyatikhatki and Lobkovoe remain in the gray zone because they are located in lowlands and the AFU does not establish the strongholds there in order to avoid heavy losses. The Russian military is in control of the dominant heights in the area.

To the south of Velikaya Novoselka, the frontlines do not change. The battles are ongoing in the area of Staromayorskoe. Ukrainian forces were recently repelled from several positions to the west of the village by heavy Russian artillery fire. Neither of the warring sides could claim control of the village. In their turn, the AFU attempt attacks on the Russian eastern flank in the village of Urozhainoe. On August 7, Ukrainian infantry group attacked Russian military in the village but as a result of a small-arms battle, the Russian army fighters repelled the attack. The village remains under Russian control.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, three Ukrainian attacks in the areas of the settlements of Uspenovka and Rabotino in the Zaporozhye region were repelled by the units of the Russian grouping of troops, air strikes and artillery fire over the past day. In the area of Novoselovka, Zaporozhye region, the activities of the Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group were suppressed. In addition, the AFU units were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Yablonevoye and Novodanilovka in the Zaporozhye region.
In the South Donetsk direction, air strikes, artillery fire and units of the Vostok group of troops repelled an attack by Ukrainian assault groups in the area of the village of Urozhnoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Also, army aviation struck five clusters of manpower and equipment of the 31st Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the settlement of Staromayorskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
- Up to 80 Ukrainian servicemen, three armored combat vehicles, four cars, as well as a D-30 howitzer were destroyed during the day in the Zaporozhie region, according to Russian Ministry of Defence.
- The total losses of the AFU in the Southern Donetsk direction amounted to more than 225 Ukrainian servicemen, three tanks, four armored fighting vehicles, two cars, as well as a D-30 howitzer.
- Up to 20 Ukrainian servicemen, three vehicles, as well as two D-30 howitzers were destroyed in the Kherson direction as a result of fire damage during the day.
Fighting in the area of Artyomovsk:
The villages located on the flanks of the Russian grouping in Artyomovsk (Bakhmut) are another direction of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. In recent days, the AFU launched several attacks in the area of the Berkhovsky water reservoir.
On the morning of August 7, Russian forces spotted the advance of Ukrainian column which reportedly included 4 tanks and 6 armored vehicles. As a result of heavy artillery fire and strikes by Russian aircraft, 4 tanks and 5 armored vehicles were reportedly destroyed and the AFU retreated to their initial positions. Later Ukrainian forces attempted to evacuate their damaged vehicles but were also stopped by Russian fire.
The situation remains tense in the area of Klescheevka located to the south of Artyomovsk, where positional battles continue without any changes to the frontlines. The village remains under Russian control.
The Russian Ministry of Defence reported that in the Donetsk direction, units of the Southern grouping of troops in close cooperation with aviation and artillery successfully repelled an attack by assault groups of the 81st Airmobile Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the settlement of Belogorovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
In addition, Ukrainian manpower and equipment were defeated in the areas of Bogdanovka, Veseloye, Kleshcheyevka, Maryinka and Krasnogorovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
The losses of the AFU amounted to up to 135 Ukrainian servicemen, two tanks, six infantry fighting vehicles, three vehicles, a US-made M777 artillery system , as well as Msta-B and D-30 howitzers.
Fighting in the areas of Krasny Liman and Kremennaya:
On August 7, the Russian military declared new victories on the northern Donbass frontlines. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, Russian troops advanced 11 kilometers along the front and more than three kilometers into the depth of the Ukrainian defense in the area of Olshana and Pershotravnevoye near Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region.
Twelve counterattacks of units of the 14th, 32nd and 67th mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were successfully repelled in the areas of the settlements of Sinkovka, Kharkiv region, Novoselovskoye and Stelmakhovka in the Luhansk People’s Republic. In addition, the attacks of Russian aircraft, artillery fire defeated the accumulations of manpower and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Kupyansk, Kotlyarovka and Berestovoye of the Kharkiv region.
The AFU losses amounted to up to 110 Ukrainian servicemen, two armored combat vehicles, three vehicles, a US-made M777 artillery system, as well as a US-made counter-battery radar station AN/TPQ-50.
The frontlines remained unchanged in the area of Krasny Liman. The Russian military is repelling Ukrainian attacks in the region.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the coordinated actions of the units of the Center group of troops, air strikes, artillery fire and heavy flamethrower systems successfully repelled the attack of the assault groups of the 42nd mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the Serebryansky forestry.
In addition, a complex fire defeat was inflicted on enemy concentrations of manpower and equipment in the areas of Raygorodok, Petrovskoye, Ploshchanka and Chervonaya Dibrova in the Luhansk People’s Republic.
More than 65 Ukrainian servicemen, two armored combat vehicles, as well as a D-30 howitzer were destroyed over the past day in the Krasny Liman direction.
Ukrainian counteroffensive stuck on all the frontlines. Unable to hide their defeats any longer, Ukrainian officials regretfully admit that the “counteroffensive is not going according to their plans”. The meager advance of Ukrainian troops in two months cost the lives of tens of thousands of Ukrainians and hundreds of billions of dollars paid by NATO countries to arm Ukrainian soldiers.
Meanwhile, Kiev is proud to announce new victories. This time on the battlefield in Jeddah, where negotiations on the settlement of the conflict ended in failure. According to preliminary reports, neither the communique nor the final declaration were signed by the summit participants, who limited themselves to standard unsubstantiated statements.
