[국가유산청](국영문 동시배포) 전통 도자기 용기에 담긴 ‘K-뷰티’, 프랑스 파리에서 만난다

  국가유산청 한국전통문화대학교(총장 강경환)는 2024 파리올림픽 개최 기간(7.26.~8.12.) 중인 7월 25일부터 8월 11일까지(현지 기준) 18일간 프랑스 파리 소재의 ‘메종 드 라 쉬미(Maison de la Chimie)’에서 운영되는 ‘코리아하우스’에서 ‘화협옹주 도자에디션’을 전 세계에 선보인다.
* 코리아하우스: 올림픽 기간 중 선수단 지원 및 스포츠 외교 등을 도모하고 한국의 음악과 드라마, 음식, 미용(뷰티), 전통문화 등 문화콘텐츠를 전시하여 우리 문화의 홍보를 위해 운영되는 공간

앞서 한국전통문화대학교와 국립고궁박물관(관장 정용재), 코스맥스그룹(회장 이경수)은 지난 2020년 9월 첫 업무협약 체결을 시작으로 화협옹주 묘에서 출토된 유물분석과 문헌조사를 통해 전통 재료의 성분을 복원하고 현대적으로 재해석한 화장품(‘화협옹주 고운 손크림’, ‘연지립밤’, 연고 형태의 얼굴 보습제 ‘연지고’, 얼굴 마사지 도구(괄사) ‘미안자기’)을 개발했으며, 당시 한국전통문화대학교 전통미술공예학과 이정용 교수 연구팀과 코스맥스그룹 디자인 R&I이 조선시대 왕실의 화장품 용기인 청화백자를 바탕으로 전통 도자기 용기도 공동 개발한 바 있다.
* 화협옹주(1733-1752): 영조의 딸이자 사도세자의 친누이로 20세에 홍역으로 세상을 떠났으며 지난 2015년부터 2017년까지 발굴 조사가 진행된 남양주 화협옹주 묘에서는 그녀가 생전에 사용했을 것으로 보이는 화장품이 출토되었다.

이번에 파리에서 선보이는 ‘화협옹주 도자에디션’은 전통 도자기 용기에 담은 형형색색의 연지립밤과 마사지 도구(괄사) 등 총 15종으로 구성되어 있으며, ‘코리아하우스’ 운영 기간 동안 메종 드 라 쉬미 내 1층에 마련된 ‘전통문화존’ 공간에서 만나볼 수 있다. 조선시대 화장문화와 함께 우리 전통 도자기의 아름다움을 전 세계인에게 폭넓게 알릴 수 있는 특별한 기회가 될 것으로 기대된다.

한국전통문화대학교는 전 세계인이 함께 하는 축제인 파리 올림픽 기간에 맞춰 선보이는 이번 전시를 통해 산관학이 함께 만들어가는 K-헤리티지의 산업화와 K-뷰티의 우수성을 널리 알릴 수 있기를 기대하며, 앞으로도 세계인이 사랑하는 우리 문화를 적극적으로 발굴하고 알리기 위한 적극행정을 지속해나갈 예정이다.

The Korea National University of Heritage (President Kang Kyung-hwan) will showcase the 'Hwahyeop Princess Ceramic Edition' to the world at the 'Korea House' located in the 7th arrondissement of Paris (Maison de la Chimie), which will be open for 18 days from July 25 to August 11 (local time), coinciding with the Paris Olympics.
* Korea House: A venue aimed at supporting the national team and promoting sports diplomacy during the Olympic period, as well as exhibiting Korean cultural content such as music, dramas, cuisine, beauty, and traditional culture to promote Korean culture.

The ‘Hwahyeop Princess Ceramic Edition’ is a collaborative outcome between the Korea National University of Heritage, the National Palace Museum of Korea (Director Jung Yong-jae), and the Cosmax Group (Chairman Lee Kyung-soo). This collaboration began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in September 2020. Through the analysis of artifacts and literature excavated from the tomb of Princess Hwahyeop*, traditional materials were restored and modernized into cosmetics housed in traditional ceramic containers.
* Princess Hwahyeop (1733-1752)**: Daughter of King Yeongjo and sister of Crown Prince Sado, she passed away at the age of 20 due to measles. Excavations of her tomb in Namyangju from 2015 to 2017 uncovered cosmetics presumed to have been used by her during her lifetime.

The exhibition pieces, notably developed by the research team from the Department of Traditional Arts and Crafts at the Korea National University of Heritage (led by Professor Lee Jeong-Yong), highlight the beauty of traditional Korean ceramics alongside the cosmetic culture of the Joseon Dynasty.

Through this exhibition, the Korea National University of Heritage aims to showcase the excellence of K-Heritage and K-Beauty, contributing to the industrialization of Korean cultural heritage and its global appeal. The university also committed to continuing proactive measures to discover and promote beloved Korean culture to the world.
